A blood pressure of 130/77 is mildly elevated and your blood pressure should be monitored in the future to determine if it is persistently elevated. The systolic blood pressure (top number) is in the pre-high blood pressure range. The diastolic blood pressure (bottom number) is perfectly normal. Keep in mind that blood pressure can increase temporarily for several reasons, such as stress, anxiety, pain, caffeine and nicotine. Blood pressure can also be falsely elevated if the proper technique was not used.

This blood pressure does not require treatment and is unlikely to lead to serious issues at your age. Some experts advocate a higher blood pressure goal for the elderly, such as a top number around 150. Therefore many medical experts would feel that this blood pressure is perfectly normal at your age. Since your blood pressure is usually lower it is possible that your blood pressure was elevated due to improper technique or one of those temporary factors that can elevate blood pressure.

Your numbers are nothing to worry about, they are perfectly normal. Ones blood pressure rises and falls through out the day, nothing you can do about that. It fluctuates with your activity level. I am a retired nurse and over the years I've seen the medical profession continually drop the numbers of what is normal. When I was young and expecting, my blood pressure was always around 140/80. Nothing was ever said about it other than it was fine. Now doctors want your pressure down to 120/70 and that is ridiculous! The Drug Companies have their say as well wanting more and more people put onto medications. It's what gives them their huge profits yearly. The same goes for glucose readings. Was a time when a number of 120 was considered normal, now it can't be higher than 100. Sad isn't it?

Don't fret over your numbers, you're fine. Hope this has helped. I have high blood pressure with my readings at 160/95 so for me, I have to take medication. Wish I didn't but getting old is for the birds and I have a family history of high blood pressure so it was bound to happen.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.

The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

That would be prehypertension. Hypertension is 140/90 and above. Normal is below 130/80.

PS don't worry about one reading. Take it several times over 1-2 months to see what your regular reading is to get a more reliable assessment.
