There are many risk factors that lead to heart disease... some are under your control, others are not. Family history is obviously something you cannot control.

But others are such as smoking, reducing stress, diet, getting adequate exercise, body weight.

Some lifestyle changes may save you from some serious trouble down the road! The effect of these risk factors is cumulative.

For some ideas, suggestions and information on living a heart healthy lifestyle, see http://www.smart-heart-living.com/index.html

There are pages about chest pain, blood pressure, stress, diet, exercise, smoking, etc.

The changes you make today will have an impact on your future health!

Good luck!

It would be a good idea to buy a digital blood pressure machine that goes around the arm, not the wrist. Take your pressure morning and evening for at least 2 weeks and keep a record of it. This will give your doctor very important information about your pressure.

Ideal blood pressure is below 120/80. You should also make some changes in your lifestyle. Quit smoking, get more sleep, and get some regular exercise. If you have a family history of early heart disease (before the age of 55 in males, before the age of 65 in females), this is a major risk factor for you.

If it's something that is in your family - I would suggest you go and get your blood pressure tested. High blood pressure is very bad. It's important to know if you have it and to get on medication.

Make some changes dude. It doesn't matter what the conditions or what your age is. You can make changes now to improve your health and chances for a long life.
