They can be, but they aren't too bad if you follow your doctors instructions. I had one done 2 years ago, and after it was over, my cardiologist told me that I had to lay flat on my back for 4 hours. The main concern is that they want to make sure you don't bleed from the site. It's a main artery that they go into. It's somewhat painful, but it's bearable.

any thing like that has and will run mild to high risks. you are putting a foren object up throgh the arteries and depending on the health and stability of the patient ,it would and could be more dangerous then others. thats why the also always have trained medical people w/ the person whom is having the procedure done.

yes they are very dangerous my husband had one done jan.4 this year he had a 100 percent block in his main artery they had to put stints in him 2 of them side by side while they was doing this my husband went into cardiac arrest they called code blue on him his heart had stopped, later when i spoke with the dr he said the cath along with the stinks was more than his heart could handle my husband is worse now than he was before he has no energy at all and is still eating nitro like candy, the dr said with his heart being in the condition its in a by pass is not an option for him .his father died at 50 his brother at 47 his son at 32 his mom at 63 so his chances of surviving long are very thin the heart disease runs on both sides of his family my husband is 53 now

All medial procedures (especially cardiac procedures) have the potential to develop complications and become dangerous. It requires a small incision (usually to the groin or neck) and it quite often a procedure that is carried out to allow more complicated procedures, such as angioplasty, to take place.

as you're advised any technique-no rely how minimum-contains achievable. My substantial suggestion on minimizing risk is to BE COMPLIANT afterwards with the educational you're given.in case you upward push up too quickly and don't lie flat you may create bleeding issues.

Any time you introduce a foreign object like a catheter into your body, there's always a risk. But they are a pretty common procedure, so that risk is pretty small.

they will give you something to help you relax and help with the discomfort of the procedure.the main thing is afterwards -no matter how boring it may be-lie flat like you are instructed and be compliant with the post procedural instructions to prevent complications.
