Yeah I know Its stupid that I just saw the doctor and Im still posting a question for average people to answer. Anyway my heart is fluttering a lot, it usually lasts for 1 second Its very random. Sometimes it completely goes away and other times it happens a lot within 10 minutes. I dont think its anxiety because I woke up this morning feeling good and normal then all of a sudden my heart just fluttered. And its still fluttering.

I saw the doctor he listened to my heart and he said it sounded normal especially when it fluttered. I mentioned to him that his fluttering right now. But maybe he didn't listen to it properly when it fluttered. He gave me a diagnoses. I forgot the name but he prescribed me Metoprolol. I look it up and this medication is to treat abnormalities of the heart and chest pain! He told me its normal and it will just go away and the I can take the meds for discomfort.

I am healthy 18year old. My blood pressure was good and I have no other symptoms. It's just my heart fluttering.

Heart palpitations can be triggered by caffeine, drugs, lack of sleep and an irregular sleeping pattern. Try going to bed around the same time each night for 2 weeks and see if the palpitations subside a bit. I've had them for years, sometimes they are even triggered by anxiety - like a mini panic attack- but usually nothing is even stressing me out when I get them.

I'm surprised he put you on meds.

Heart fluttering can be normal, so your doctor isn't wrong. By giving you metoprolol it should slow your heart and hopefully stop the fluttering. I wouldn't worry about it as worrying could possibly make your heart flutters even more!

I have the same problem, and i went to the doctor again and he monitored my heart. He said it was fine and nothing to worry about.

I still dont know what it is, but im trying not to worry about it and just get on with things otherwise it makes it worse.

I dont smoke, drink, drink alot of caffine either.

Trust the doctors. Get a second opinion if you like, but there is a reason they are experts and you should trust their medical diagnosis.
